Agape kind of love

by Mucha

Agape  is one of the several Greek words for love. Love at the highest level. It is the most self-sacrificing love that there is.  A good example of Agape love is

  John 3:16

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

This love is a love that Jesus showed us by laying down His life for us. Agape love is a by-product of salvation and the result is being filled with the Holy spirit.

Our model for agape love is found here:

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends

(1 Cor. 13:4-8).

Jesus showed us that agape love is to be used to live a life that is full. It is the purest form of love where there is sacrifice without any demand. Agape is used to describe the love that is of and from God, whose very nature is love itself: “God is love” 1 John 4:8

This type of love is not easy for most people because it is a love that comes naturally. We must therefore decide to reach out to others and serve them in humility knowing that we will not get anything in return.

Because of agape love, you can love difficult people and be moved with compassion to help others in their darkest times.

This type of love conquers all.
