Either voluntary or otherwise; man embarks on many paths often in a quest of self-discovery. Each and every one of us at some point in life embark on this expedition seeking to discover who one is?

I had the occasion to be in one service that the Preacher was talking about “Fulfillment in Singleness”.

I found the sermon quite refreshing and enlightening.

The sermon was centered on the fulfillment and wholeness one has in themself before partnering with another. ‘Self’ is often limited to mean just ‘me’ but when you go through scripture and look at what the Lord said; it is clear that you are indeed made in His image and likeness and that He breathed life into you.

This then must mean that in your ‘self’ is also the being of God. Acts 17:28 “For in Him we live move and have our being…”

So what is this fulfillment of self?

Fulfillment of self speaks to and of your self-worth, purpose, completeness and relationship/alignment with your creator. Often we try and find ourselves amongst crowds, assuming their mannerisms and identity but again something in you refuses to give in.

The Psalmist says,

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

When you assume others’ identities, you often feel this void and deep emptiness that creeps in deep within and even though you can’t see it, it feels almost tangible, why because it is so real. The more you neglect who you are the more you fall into this feeling of emptiness, your soul knows right well who you are.
To discover who you really are, there are sacrifices to be made. Accept the separation and solitude that comes with the quest. Separation and solitude are important in order to bring you to a place where the only voice you hear is the Creator’s and the only real opinion that matters over your life is His.

People will always have an opinion of what you should do with your life; how you should live it and who you should become. Whether it comes from the goodness or wickedness of their hearts, the fact remains; it comes from people. People are fickle and temperamental thus their stance about your life is ever changing. Rather discover who you are from the Creator’s blueprint for you because that is certain and never changing. In this identity you will once again achieve uniqueness, singularity of purpose and wholeness.

The voices of others often lead to many paths. The world is designed as a pressure system to either suck you in or eject you out so you fail to pursue your true purpose. Most people get sucked in because the many voices they listen to sadly have no real idea of who they truly are.

The truth is your identity is in the Creator, He is the completing factor in your life, He designed you that way and when you become one with Him ‘all’ falls into place. This oneness demands separation, sanctification, purification, obedience, love and all the wonderful fruits of the Spirit becoming fruit in you. Why? In Him we live and have our being……

So who am I?

How do I find my purpose?

God loves you so much that no matter what path you have walked in life when you truly come to Him you become a new creation. Seek the Creator and you will find You!
